The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is collecting walleye eggs at several lakes and reservoirs in Nebraska. The walleye egg collections will be used for the scheduled stocking of 56 million walleye across the state.
The collection began last Friday at Sherman Reservoir. They plan to start collection at Merritt next Wednesday and at Lake McConaughy the following week. Areas at Lake McConaughy, Sherman and Merritt Reservoir will be closed during the collections. The commission will use boats with 300 foot nets parallel to the banks.
Collection of walleye eggs will happen after sunset, and the netting and collection will end when the quota is met. -30-
